United Kingdom state-owned bank, RBS cuts UK office staff, a statement from the bank head office said on Tuesday. The troubled bank was reducing its 154 contractor roles, with additional 92 more jobs cuts as it says it overhauls its back-end office operations.
Based in Edinburgh, the Royal bank of Scotland said, it is now focusing mainly on the UK market and the cuts are necessary as to measure up the smaller and simpler UK local bank.
A RBS spoke person said, we are now restructuring our back-office operation and cutting the size so it fits for our business.
Earlier on Tuesday, trade union Unite said, it opposes the bank’s offshoring of jobs based in India.
After a decade-long loss and turmoil, the bank has produced some profit in their last month profit reports, the posting shows the bank has progressed a little since their last profit posted in Sept 2015.
